Mariah Carey and a Dolphin, you might think it's irrelevant / โลมากะมารายห์ เกี่ยวกันเจงๆ

Sorry for not putting the English version on yesterday’s post. It was very late and I was way too beat to do it. But not to worry, in order to make it up to all of you, I’m going to put the English bit first in today’s post. So, what’s new today you might ask. Well, I’ve just finished watching Mariah Carey on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Have I ever told you that she’s one of my most favourite singers/songwriters of all time? No? Now I have. Anyway, some of you probably know this already but I’ve just found out from the show that Mariah holds the record for having hit the highest note in the history of recorded music. In a live rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at last year Super Bowls, she hit a G7#-note, outdoing even the piano. What’s more interesting is that the exertion of G7#-notes is "dolphin speak," since, in theory, these are the only mammals physiologically equipped with the proper lung-structure to produce G7#-notes. To other Divas’ fans out there (I'm not gonna name any names), how many times do I have to tell you that Mariah is the best, apparently she’s beyond human! Now, most of you might wince at Mariah’s howling voice. Before you judge me, let me tell you that I’m not a fan of her earlier works at all. I only like her post-Butterfly stuff, where she incorporates more of her songwriting, singing techniques (especially in a Bone-Thugs-n- Harmony-ish fashion), and creativity in her music. I like her because she doesn’t just scream her lungs out singing cheesy love songs, but rather she gets involved and produces her own work in the way that I happen to appreciate. I must admit that the stereotype that says men who like Mariah Carey (like as in musically not sexually) are mostly gay is actually true. In my case, this is not an exception but I just want to say that being gay doesn’t have anything to do with the kind of music you like and appreciate. I like what sounds great to me. Not only I listen and sing heartily along to Mariah’s We Belong Together (that’s her next single btw folks), also I do that to Stereophonics’ Maybe tomorrow and Dakota, Athlete’s Wires and Half Light, Jack Johnson’s Sitting, waiting, wishing, Kaiser Chiefs’ Oh My God and etc. I can’t say I like a particular kind of music because I don’t classify it into genres. What sounds great to me is, by my definition, good music.
So, people, don’t judge me when I say I like Mariah Carey…

วันนี้เอาภาษาอังกิดขึ้นก่อน เพราะเมื่อวานไม่ได้ทำภาคภาษาอังกิด โพสต์นี้เลยต้องเอาใจแขกต่างชาติ มาเรื่องเบาๆ เรื่องดนตรีกันบ้างดีกว่า คือเมื่อกี้ดูรายการ The Tonight Show with Jay Leno แล้วมารายห์ แครี่มาเป็นแขกรับเชิญ ใครรู้บ้างว่ามารายเป็นศิลปินที่เราชอบมากที่สุดคนนึง ชอบเพราะว่าเค้าไม่ได้เป็นนักร้องอย่างเดียว เค้าเป็นทั้งคนเขียนเพลงและโปรดิวเซอร์ พูดง่ายๆก็คือเป็นนักร้องที่เป็นศิลปินจริงๆ คนนึงเลยล่ะ เป็นดีว่าที่ไม่สักแต่ว่าแหกปากร้องแต่เพลงรักเศร้าหวานซึ้งอย่างเดียว(ไม่อยากพาดพิงถึงดีว่าคนอื่นๆ เพราะเดี๋ยวโดนรุมตบ 555) เทคนิคการร้องของมารายห์ก็แพรวพราว ทำให้คนฟังร้องตามไม่ได้ เราชอบผลงานของเค้านับตั้งแต่ Butterfly ลงมา เพราะเราชอบการร้องแบบ Bone Thugs n Harmony เข้าเรื่องดีกว่า มารายห์ก็มาเม้าเรื่องที่เค้าได้รับการบันทึกจากหนังสือกินเนสส์ บุ๊ค ว่าเป็นคนๆ เดียวที่สามารถร้องตัวโน้ตตัวที่เสียงสูงที่สุดในประวัติศาสตร์ดนตรี เมื่อตอนที่คุณเธอไปร้องเพลงชาติอเมริกัน "The Star-Spangled Banner" ตามธรรมเนียมที่งานแข่ง Super Bowls ตัวโน้ตที่ว่านี้คือโน้ต G7#- ซึ่งว่ากันว่าเสียงของเธอนั้น “outdoing even the piano” แปลได้ว่าชนะเลิศ เพราะว่าสูงกว่าเสียงของเปียโนค่ะ และที่อะเม่ซิ่งไปกว่านั้นก็คือ โน้ตตัวที่ว่านี้ ไม่มีมนุษย์มนาคนไหนเค้าสามารถหรอกค่ะ สิ่งมีชีวิตที่สามารถเปล่งเสียงสูงขนาดนั้นได้ก็คือ ปลาโลมา เท่านั้น เนื่องจากปลาโลมาเป็นสิ่งมีชีวิตเพียงชนิดเดียวที่ธรรมชาติสร้างปอดแบบพิเศษออกมาเพื่อให้ทำเสียงแบบนั้นได้ โอ้ว พระเจ้า ชาติก่อน
มารายห์เคยเป็นปลาโลมามาก่อนแน่ๆ เลยค่ะ สัมพาดเส็ดมารายห์เธอก็ร้องเพลงโชว์ ชื่อว่า We belong together ซึ่งเป็นซิงเกิ้ลเพลงที่สองหลังจาก It’s like that ตะ แดด แต่ด อยากจะบอกว่าเพลงนี้โดนเจ้าของบล็อคมากๆ เลย ตอนมีปัญหากะกิ๊ก เพลงนี้ก็ช่วยเยียวยาใจได้เยอะเลยล่ะค่ะ ฟังวันละร้อยกว่ารอบจนร้องตามได้แล้ว (คนที่เคยฟังแล้วจะรู้ ว่ามันร้องตามยากมากๆ ชิมิค่ะ) ฟังเพลงนี้ร้องสดแล้วรู้สึก fulfilled อย่างบอกไม่ถูก ทำให้ช้านอยากดู mv เพลงนี้ขึ้นมาเชียว ใครได้ดูแล้ว มาเล่าให้ฟังหน่อยน้า
ใครจะว่าว่ามีแต่เกย์สาวเท่านั้นที่ฟังแต่มารายห์ แต่เราว่าไม่จำเป็น อะไรที่เราฟังแล้วรู้สึกว่าเพราะแล้วชอบเราก็ถือว่าเป็นเพลงที่ดี ถึงแม้ว่าเราแหกปากร้องเพลง We belong together ของมารายห์ ก็ไม่ได้หมายความว่าเราจะแหกปากร้องเพลง Oh my god ของ Kaiser Chiefs ไม่ได้หนิ...
